birth doula, educator, writer, mama.

I spend my days (and nights) being mama to the hairiest, most awesome little person the world has ever seen. I live in the house I was born in (and where I also gave birth to my daughter) with my husband, psycho, geriatric mutt and said baby girl.

I truly believe that “parenting expert” is oxymoronic and vehemently reject the notion that anyone else knows better than you what’s best for your kid. I continually seek to trust my own inner parent and encourage all people to parent in the way that feels real and good to them.

The best thing that has ever happened to me (aside from the baby) is the amazing, supportive community of parents (and parents-to-be) who text me back always – even in the middle of the night when I am up, for what feels like the hundredth time, nursing my girl. These women remind me that I am not alone in the hard, hard, wonderful work of nurturing a new person. Jen, Brenda, Marion, Melanie, Sally, I’m talkin to you.

I blog at Your Fonder Heart and can be found in the doula world at Baby Day Doula. I thank you for reading my writing and would always like to hear from you/see pictures of your kids/help you adjust your baby carrier/listen to how little sleep you got last night! Please be free to contact me any time.
