Infant Car Seat Safety

My friend was walking to her car and saw a woman putting a baby (brand new) into his car seat and it was FORWARD facing. My friend (a mom of 11 mo. old) knew she couldn’t walk by and stay silent. She lovingly walked over to the woman and talked to her about the car seat facing the wrong direction. Apparently, the mom had no idea. This shocked me. After my son was born, it seemed like his car seat got checked 10 times by the midwives, doctors, and pediatrician. I’m so glad my friend talked to her and shared this valuable information!

Here are the links to the car seat safety information:

You can also call The Car Seat Lady – Sue Emery. She will come to where you are at and check out your car seat installation. She is an expert on this topic and many of my friends have used her when unable to locate a local place to have their car seat checked.

One of the most important jobs you have as a parent is keeping your child safe when riding in a vehicle. Each year thousands of young children are killed or injured in car crashes. Proper use of car safety seats helps keep children safe.

  1. Thanks for the links! Our hospital wouldn’t do the safety check because of insurance purposes, and none of the fire stations nearby had anyone trained to do it either. We were told to go to another hospital by our hospital, and when we called, they directed us back to our hospital. So… I hope these work! We were fortunate that after driving around with our carseat base kind of wonky for a while that another mama friend took pity on us and helped us get our base in using the LATCH system. I don’t know what I would have done without her.
